Peter Paul Wolfgang Maria Freiherr von Fürstenberg (born March 9, 1936 in Eberswalde ) has been Vice President of the German Association of the Sovereign Order of Malta since 2006 .

Life

Peter Freiherr von Fürstenberg attended the Mauritius grammar school in Büren , where he graduated from high school in 1955. After two one-year internships in forestry and agriculture, he began to study forest science in Munich and Göttingen in 1957 . In Munich he became a member of the Catholic student association KStV Rheno-Bavaria. In 1961 he finished his studies. In the same year he was accepted into the Sovereign Order of Malta. In 1962 he became Associate Expert of an FAO advisory group for Latin America based in Rio de Janeiro . In 1966 he received his doctorate as Dr. forest . in Göttingen. Peter Freiherr von Fürstenberg became director of the Institute for Forest Policy of the Forestry Faculty at the Universidad Austral in Valdivia , Chile .

His other activities include in 1970 the post of project manager of an inter-African training center in Garoua , Cameroon , and in 1973 the post of head of the forestry and timber industry of the German Foundation for International Development in Feldafing .

From 1978 to 1998 he was the diocesan director of the Malteser Relief Service in the Archdiocese of Paderborn . He was also a member of the Central Committee of German Catholics from 1987 to 1991 . From 1993 to 2006 Peter Freiherr von Fürstenberg acted as ambassador for the Sovereign Order of Malta in Lithuania . From 1996 to 2006 he was also accredited in Latvia . Subsequently, in 2006, he became Vice President of the German Association of the Sovereign Order of Malta.

In addition to his work for the Sovereign Order of Malta, he was a lecturer for forest development policy at the University of Göttingen from 1994 to 2000 .

Peter Freiherr von Fürstenberg is married and has three children.
