Peter Gottwald (psychiatrist)

Peter Gottwald (born November 3, 1935 in Shanghai ) is a German psychiatrist and psychologist who held the chair of psychology with a focus on psychotherapy at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg until his retirement .

Life

Peter Gottwald studied medicine and received his doctorate in Kiel in 1962 . In 1965 a study visit to Boston followed ; then he worked from 1966 to 1976 as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry in Munich . In 1972 a further doctorate followed to become Dr. rer. soz. in the subject of psychology at the University of Konstanz .

In 1977 he was appointed to Oldenburg, where he worked in the health and clinical psychology unit. Another of his interests is the realization of the so-called integral consciousness by Jean Gebser ; for this he is involved in the Jean Gebser Society.
