Peter Green (historian)

Peter Morris Green (born December 22, 1924 in Great Britain ) is a British journalist , author and historian .

Life

Green served in the Royal Air Force in Burma during World War II . After the war he studied at Trinity College of Cambridge University . In the following years he wrote various historical novels and worked as a journalist. In 1963 he moved with the family to the Greek island of Lesbos . There he worked as a translator (among other things he translated Ovid ; Bob Dylan used his text templates), but then went to Athens, where he taught on subjects of the classical period from 1966 to 1971. In 1982 he received a call to the University of Texas at Austin . In 1986 he was appointed to Tulane University in New Orleans . Today (2012) he teaches as a professor at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and is visiting professor at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina .
