Peter Grand Cross

Peter Großkreuz (born February 25, 1924 in Katowice , Upper Silesia , † June 3, 1974 in Bibione , Italy ) was a German cartoonist .

Peter Großkreuz came to Berlin in the 1930s , where he attended an engineering school. He was a soldier from 1942 to 1945.

Großkreuz worked from 1946 to 1950 in Berlin as a freelance caricaturist for the Neue Berliner Illustrierte , the Berliner Morgenpost and the satirical magazine Der Insulaner . In 1951 he moved to Munich , where he worked as a freelance cartoonist until his death in 1974. His work has been published in the magazines Bunte and Revue , which were newly created after the war .

In the early 1950s he designed the back of the paper at regular intervals for the Revue with his satirical caricatures and drawn short stories, together with colleagues Emmerich Huber and Olaf Iversen . He also worked for daily newspapers such as Die Welt and the Süddeutsche Zeitung .

A large part of Großkreuz's drawing legacy is held by the House of History Foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany.
