Career
The 1.96 meter tall central defender played in his youth at TSV Plön and Preetzer TSV , before moving to the youth department of FC Energie Cottbus , where he was a top performer and also got a professional contract, but did not play a game. Hackenberg then moved to Wacker Burghausen for the 2010/11 season .
On June 30, 2011, he signed a two-year contract with 1. FC Magdeburg for the Regionalliga Nord. In October 2011 he was appointed captain by the new trainer Ronny Thielemann as the successor to Daniel Bauer . In the following season he was replaced by Marco Kurth .
Hackenberg moved to Alemannia Aachen for the 2013/14 season .
Together with Frederic Löhe and Bastian Müller , Peter Hackenberg was suspended and released from work in December 2015. On January 27, 2016, his move to the Belgian second division club KAS Eupen became known.
After moving to the Belgian 2nd division, he was in the starting line-up for the remaining 11 games of the season and, thanks to his stable performance with Eupen, was able to achieve 8 wins, 2 draws and one defeat, the foundation for promotion to the first division . With the withdrawal of White Star Brussels' license, Hackenberg rose to second place in the top division in Belgium with KAS Eupen . There he completed another 20 top division games for Eupen in the 2016/17 season .
In the winter break 2017/18 he returned to Alemannia from Aachen. Since the beginning of September 2019 he has also been part of the Integration team at KAS Eupen, where he supports new players in practical matters such as looking for an apartment and dealing with authorities.
