Peter Hammann

Peter Hammann (born April 2, 1938 in Munich , † 2005 in Bochum ) was a German economist .

Life

Hammann was born the son of a businessman . After studying business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , he worked at the Technical University of Berlin for 32 years . He was dean of the local business faculty. With Heribert Meffert , Hammann was one of the first professors in Germany for the marketing research area. In 1972 he was a visiting fellow at MIT . In 1973 he accepted a position at the Ruhr University in Bochum , where he worked with Werner Hans Engelhardt in marketing. In 1989 he did not accept the offer of a Bavarian university. His main focus was on the transfer of entrepreneurial theories to marketing and market research. Interpreting goods as a bundle of services that have both material and immaterial components was the core of his approach. With Bernd Erichson he wrote the book Marktforschung, which is now in its 5th edition. In addition, he promoted interdisciplinary research. Well-known former employees are Michael Welling , now chairman of Rot-Weiss Essen, and Ralf Metzenthin , now professor at the FOM. Hammann was married and the father of 3 children.
