Peter Hanke (born March 28, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian manager and politician ( SPÖ ). From 2002 to May 2018 he was Managing Director of Wien Holding . Since May 24, 2018 he has been the executive city councilor of the state government and city senate Ludwig .

Life

Peter Hanke is the son of the social democratic politician Erik Hanke, born in 1933. He graduated from a secondary school in Vienna in 1984 and then studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . In 1991 he began his professional career as an assistant to the management at ÖKO-Wien Umweltprojektentwicklung und Management GmbH . From 1993 to May 2018 he worked at Wien Holding (then AG, later GmbH), initially until 2002 as a business management consultant with a focus on investment controlling in the areas of culture, events, telecommunications, housing and head of accounting. He was also the managing director of Art Shop Vienna GmbH (later Vienna Art Trading & Entertainment GmbH ) and BIOMAY Produktions- und Handels AG from 1994 to 2002, managing director of BOAS GmbH from 1996 to 2001 and managing director of Luftverkehrs-BeteiligungsgesmbH from 2000 to 2002. From 1996 to 2002 he was chairman of the works council of Wien Holding, in 2001 he was appointed authorized signatory and in 2002 one of two managing directors. At Wien Holding he was responsible for the business areas of culture and event management as well as logistics & mobility. In 2007 he became Vice President of the Association of Public Economy and Community Economy in Austria .

Peter Hanke was awarded the professional title of Commercial Councilor. He is a member of the extended regional board of Kinderfreunde Wien, the Lions Club Monte Laa, board member of the Business Association for Integration and a member of the specialist committee for congress funding in Vienna Tourism .

On May 24, 2018, he succeeded Renate Brauner as a financial councilor in the state government and city senate Ludwig . He also took over the press and information service (PID) of the City of Vienna from Andreas Mailath-Pokorny . With Hanke's move to the city senate, authorized signatory Doris Rechberg-Missbichler took over Hanke's agendas as one of two managing directors of Wien Holding. On June 19, 2018, he was elected President of WienTourismus . In this position he also succeeded Renate Brauner. In October 2018 he succeeded Renate Brauner as president of the Viennese civil protection association “Helfer Wiens”. He is also President of the Vienna Business Agency .
