Peter Jenner (* 1943 ) is a British music manager and producer . Jenner, Andrew King and the original four members of Pink Floyd were partners at Blackhill Enterprises .

biography

After graduating from the University of Cambridge with a degree in economics , Jenner taught at the London School of Economics . In 1966 he was so enthusiastic about a performance by the young band Pink Floyd at London's Marquee Club that he decided to take over its management. Jenner founded Blackhill Enterprises with the band and his friend Andrew King. The company provided the little-known group with new instruments, appearances, reviews in the press and a record deal. Jenner's voice can be heard at the beginning of the first track, Astronomy Domine, from Pink Floyd's first album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn .

After Syd Barrett left the band in 1968, Jenner and King ended their collaboration with Pink Floyd because they did not believe in their success without Barrett. Blackhill continued to oversee Barrett (recordings for The Madcap Laughs ) and several other artists, including Marc Bolan , Ian Dury , Roy Harper , The Clash and The Edgar Broughton Band .

In the early 1980s, Blackhill Enterprises broke up and Jenner founded Sumi Sincere Management with his wife. The company looked after artists such as Billy Bragg , Eddi Reader , Sarah Jane Morris , Robyn Hitchcock , The Unbending Trees and Outside Royalty .
