Peter Jensen (born March 28, 1931 in Berlin-Schöneberg ; † November 17, 2000 ) was a wood sculptor and restorer .

Peter Jensen was born the son of the sculptor Johannes Jensen. He had a sculpture workshop in Berlin in 1925 . The factory in Berlin was destroyed in the Second World War, whereupon Johannes Jensen and his family returned to the house of his parents' family in fishing in Schleswig-Holstein in 1946 . 1947–1950 he made an apprenticeship as wood sculptor with his father. School graduation. Visit of the Werkkunstschule in Flensburg . In 1950 he passed the journeyman's examination in wood carving in Flensburg. Then a year of volunteer work with work in stone . From 1950 to 1952 he did an apprenticeship as a pastry chef and then the master's examination in 1957. During this time he also worked as a wood sculptor and restorer.

He broke off studying at the art college in Vienna with Josef Hoffmann in the 4th semester because he responded to a call back to his father's company in Kragholm , where he and his father ran the sculpture workshop in Kragholm in 1956. In 1972 the master craftsman examination in wood carving followed in Frankfurt am Main . The father's company was completely taken over in 1979.

1977 to 1987 second workshop in the open-air museum Molfsee .

Peter Jensen was no longer able to experience the completion of his last major commissioned work - the restoration of the Gothic choir screen of St. Marien zu Lübeck , which was destroyed in the war . The last section was installed in May 2001 after his death in 2000.

His field of activity was wide-ranging, his preferred materials being oak and ash, fruitwood and sandstone, but also boulders .

In addition to the design of small sculptures, the restoration of furniture and sculptures in the domestic as well as in the church area belonged to the artist's work area as well as the design of coats of arms ( heraldry ). The sculptor, who worked in the arts and crafts, also dealt with the design and actual implementation of interior fittings and individual pieces of furniture as well as with 'art in architecture'.

The workshop has been located in the Molfsee open-air museum since Whitsun 2002 . It was set up by Dr Jutta Wiedemann and the Kiel sculptor Giotto Bente and will continue to be looked after by them.
