Peter Klever (born June 14, 1934 ; † May 27, 2018 in Neubrandenburg ) was a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and a spiritual writer.

Life

Peter Klever studied Protestant theology in Göttingen and Erlangen and came to Rehau as a parish vicar . In 1960 he became pastor at the Neustädter Church in Erlangen , then youth pastor in Munich and in 1973 pastor at St. Markus in Coburg . There he had a formative effect through appealing sermons, through special forms of worship inspired by the church days (“Mark's Mass”) and through radio and television services. In 1989 he was retired for health reasons.

In retirement he developed an intensive literary activity. With his own texts and photographs he designed numerous meditation books on baptisms, weddings, birthdays, illness and mourning. Celebrating church services differently in his book 9 models for the church year (1992) he also published new songs with some of his own melodies. His melody to Eckart Bücken's text All your worries, today and tomorrow, brings before the cross was included in various Christian songbooks and in the regional Bavaria-Thuringia section of the Evangelical Hymnbook (No. 631).

Peter Klever had children and grandchildren from his first marriage. In 2004 he married the Neubrandenburg pastor Birke Riemann and has lived in Neubrandenburg ever since. With Riemann, he published the Christmas meditation See you the star there (2006).
