Peter Lücker (pharmacologist)

Peter Wolfgang Lücker (born November 8, 1933 in Hamburg ) is a German pharmacologist , university professor , conductor and local politician ( FDP ).

Life

Lücker was born in Hamburg and went to school in Lübeck . After graduating from high school, he studied medicine in Kiel, Oxford, Tübingen and Homburg . After completing his studies and obtaining his license to practice medicine, Lücker did his doctorate in Homburg on the subject of improved fracture healing with the administration of certain growth-promoting drugs.

Several years of surgery followed and later in the pharmaceutical industry pharmacology and toxicology. He graduated as a specialist in pharmacology and toxicology. Afterwards Lücker worked in clinical pharmacology with a corresponding degree as a doctor for clinical pharmacology. His habilitation took place in 1982 at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, where Lücker read as adjunct professor for pharmacokinetics for 17 years and retired in 1996. He has published numerous scientific articles in specialist journals on questions of clinical pharmacology and pharmacokinetics.

In 1977 Lücker founded the Institute for Clinical Pharmacology GmbH, first in Bobenheim am Berg and later in Grünstadt . The institute was a contractor for the global pharmaceutical industry. In 2001 Lücker sold the GmbH and the following year founded Prof. Dr. Lücker Consulting GmbH.

Politically, Lücker was a member of the CDU from 1974 to 1993 , eight years of which worked as a local councilor and then switched to the FDP. There he gained a mandate in the city council and in the district council as chairman of the Grünstadt municipal association. From 2003 to 2010 he was chairman of the FDP community association Grünstadt- Leiningerland .

Lücker always occupied himself with music parallel to his main job, first as a double bass player in various chamber orchestras and later, after completing additional studies with George Hust, with conducting. In addition to numerous concerts as a "permanent guest" of the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester Mannheim, he held the position of chief conductor of the Salzburg Concert Ensemble. From there he was appointed chief conductor of the Bohuslav Martinů State Filharmonic in Zlín in 1989 . In addition to his concert activities, he produced around 30 CDs of romantic music, including the entire symphonic work of Sergei Wassiljewitsch Rachmaninoff .
