Peter Hofrichter

Peter Leander Hofrichter (born May 24, 1940 in Vienna ) is an Austrian Catholic church historian and New Testament scholar . He was a professor of church history and patrology at the University of Salzburg .

Life

After studying classical philology , German studies and history at the University of Vienna , where he in 1966 with the work of Austrian Catholics days of the 20th century (1905-1933) doctorate was studied Peter Hofrichter Catholic theology and was an assistant in Salzburg , where he 1977 with work Not born of blood, but monogenic from God. In 2005 he was awarded the Papal New Year's Order . In 2007 he was elected chairman of the parish council of the Hallein parish. Since 1966 Polak has been married to Hilde, with whom he has four grown children.

He researches the New Testament and the patristic and early church history, especially the prologue of the Gospel according to John and its original form, context and history of impact. The hymnic confession of the Hellenistic-Jewish community of Jesus to the incarnate Logos appears to Hofrichter as the starting point for the entire development of the Gospels.
