Peter Nocker (born March 9, 1823 St. Christina in Val Gardena ; † July 2, 1880 in Brixlegg ) was a sculptor from Val Gardena .

Peter Nocker, son of Valentin Nocker and Marianna Pitscheider, was born in St. Christina on the Sabedin farm .

At the age of 22, Nocker carved one of his famous works: The Last Supper according to Leonardo da Vinci . This work is now in the parish church of St. Christina . Together with his brother Valentin and his colleague Franz Prinoth, he moved to Munich, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . For a while he also worked in the art institute of Joseph Gabriel Mayer in Munich.

Peter Nocker also has relationships with Ludwig Steub and Konrad Max Kunz .

Works

Several of the girls' figures that he carved in linden wood were made in numerous reproductions from clay. He also carved several reliefs after paintings, among others by Johann Baptist Kirner , Kaspar Kaltenmoser , Wilhelm von Kaulbach , and the well-known "Ball on the Alm" by Franz von Defregger . In the Munich Exhibition of Arts and Professions in 1876 ​​he showed two reliefs based on Albrecht Dürer's "Coat of Arms with the Rooster" and "Coat of Arms with the Skull" and after the "Triumphal Chariot of Emperor Maximilian I" by Hans Burgkmair .

The Ferdinandeum Museum in Innsbruck has a Holy Family of the artist. A baroque-style bishop statuette by Nocker in boxwood frame is on display in the Val Gardena Museum.
