Peter O'Brien

Peter O'Brien (born March 25, 1960 in Murray Bridge , South Australia ) is an Australian actor .

Life

O'Brien was born and raised in Jervois , Murray Bridge, to Jack and Betty O'Brien . First he took up a teaching degree and also worked for a short time as a teacher at Mercedes College in Springfield, Adelaide. He posted a video of himself to Grundy Light Entertainment hoping to become an actor. A short time later he got his first role in the short-lived television series Starting Out . O'Brien had great success as Shane Ramsey in the family series Neighbors , in which he appeared from 1985 to 1987. For this role he was nominated in 1987 for a Logie Award in the category Most Popular Actor . After leaving Neighbors , he was to be seen as a pilot Sam Patterson in The Flying Doctors for two years . O'Brien then went to England, where he a. a. in series such as Queer as Folk (1999), but also appeared in theater productions such as The Wizard of Oz and The Pirates of Penzance . After his return to Australia he performed a. a. in Nora or A Dolls House by Henrik Ibsen .

For his role in the television series White Collar Blue , he was awarded a Silver Logie in 2003 in the category Most Outstanding Actor In A Drama Series . He was also nominated for an award from the Australia Film Institute in 2002 for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Television Drama .

Since January 1, 2003, O'Brien is married to the actress Miranda Otto , the daughter of Barry Otto . The two have a daughter together. He was previously married to actress Joanna Riding from 1990 to 1994 .
