Peter Paschen

Peter Paschen (born January 4, 1935 in Goslar , Lower Saxony , † January 29, 2013 ) was a German-Austrian metallurgist and university professor. From 1995 to 1999 he was rector of the Montanuniversität Leoben.

Life

After graduating from high school in Neuss , Paschen studied metallurgy at the Montanuniversität Leoben from 1955 to 1957 and at the RWTH Aachen University from 1958 to 1960 . In 1956 he became a member of the Erz Corps . Graduate engineer since 1960 , he was awarded a Dr. mont. PhD . After completing his habilitation in 1973 , he was a lecturer at the TH Hannover , the TU Delft (1976) and the RWTH Aachen (1980). In 1984 he accepted the appointment of the Montan University Leoben to the chair of non-ferrous metallurgy . The focus of his work was non-ferrous metals , life cycle assessments , energy issues , economic geography and sustainable development . In addition to his academic work, he devoted himself to work in industrial companies in the Netherlands , France , Germany and Brazil , where he was most recently Executive Director of Otto Deutz SA in São Paulo . Since 1990 he has been the editor of the Berg- und Hüttenmännischen monthly books .
