Peter Paul Brewer
Peter Paul Brauer (born May 16, 1899 in Elberfeld , † April 28, 1959 in Berlin ) was a German film producer and director .
Brauer trained as a dramaturge , theater director and actor and was initially active in these functions at the theater. He came into contact with film in the Netherlands in 1928. In the same year he returned to Germany and directed several short films here in the following years .
After the seizure of power by the National Socialists Brauer in March was 1,933 production manager at the UFA . After making other short films, from 1938 he also directed feature films, mostly comedies.
Between April 1939 and November 1940, Brauer was head of production at Terra . At the beginning of 1940, Brauer was scheduled to direct the anti-Semitic film Jud Suss , but then Reich Propaganda Minister Goebbels decided on Veit Harlan . In the 1940s he concentrated on directing and occasionally co-wrote the scripts. In the years from 1942 he worked for the Prague film .
The loyal brewer was seen as a denunciator by Terra film colleagues, including Heinz Rühmann and Alf Teichs , among other things because of their contacts with Jews. In this context, Rühmann said: "The man's name was Brauer - you can write that."
