Peter Peters (born June 21, 1962 in Ochtendung , Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a German journalist and football official . From 1994 to 2020 he was responsible for finances on the board of FC Schalke 04 . In addition, he has been Vice President or Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the German Football League and Vice President of the DFB since 2007, as well as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DFL GmbH and 1st Vice President of the DFB since 2019.

Life

Peters studied business administration at the Technical University of Dortmund and graduated in 1989 with a degree in business administration . Before he worked as a football official, he was head of football for RevierSport magazine from 1987 to 1989 , volunteer at Westfälische Rundschau from 1989 to 1990, and from 1990 sports editor at Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung from 1991 .

Club functions

In 1991 he switched to football and became deputy managing director of 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

In 1993 he became managing director of FC Schalke 04 . In 1994 he also became a board member and in 1998 managing director of the Arena companies. He had a permanent contract with Schalke since September 2012. After the supervisory board agreed to his request to terminate his contract, Peters left FC Schalke 04 on June 30, 2020.

Association functions

In addition to his duties at FC Schalke 04, Peters also has other activities. He has been a member of the DFL supervisory board and the executive board of the league association since 2004 , from 2006 to 2007 he was a member of the UEFA Committee for Stadiums and Security and during the 2006 World Cup he was the managing director of the World Cup OK branch in Gelsenkirchen . After he was elected Acting Deputy Chairman of the DFL Supervisory Board and Vice President of the League Association on March 15, 2007, he was unanimously confirmed in these positions at the General Assemblies of the League Association in 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016. As Vice President of the League Association, he is also Vice President and board member of the DFB . After Reinhard Rauball's withdrawal, Peters was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH by the General Assembly in 2019, which also means the office of 1st Vice President of the DFB. In the presidium of the league, his position is now that of deputy spokesman under Christian Seifert , which has made him the highest-ranking club representative in German professional football. He is also chairman of the supervisory board of DFL Digital Sports and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of DFL Sport Enterprise. He has been a member of the UEFA Club Licensing Committee since 2011.

Peters is married and has two children.
