Peter Pilhofer

Peter Pilhofer (* 1955 in Bayreuth ) is a German Protestant theologian and New Testament scholar .

biography

Peter Pilhofer studied mathematics, philosophy and theology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg from 1975 to 1980 . Here he passed his first theological exam in 1981 . From 1981 to 1983 he was vicar of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria in Stockdorf near Munich .

After his ordination in 1983 he became a research assistant and later a research assistant at the Protestant theological faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1989 the doctorate to Dr. theol. , The topic was the proof of age of the Jewish and Christian apologists . From 1989 until his habilitation on the first Christian congregation in Europe in Philippi in 1994, he was a research assistant at Dietrich-Alex Koch .

Peter Pilhofer is married and has two daughters and a son. He is a great-grandson of the missionary and founder of the Neuendettelsauer Mission in New Guinea Johann Flierl .

Scientific focus

One focus of Pilhofer's scientific work is ancient Philippi, where the first known Christian community in Europe came into being. In addition, Pilhofer deals extensively with the world of the early Christians in the Roman Empire . Another focus is the investigation of the discussion of Christian authors with their philosophical colleagues and the development and Christology in the early days.
