Peter Pirker (journalist)

Peter Pirker (born May 22, 1944 in Klagenfurt ; † between May 21 and 29 , 2014 in Vienna ) was an Austrian journalist and from 1999 to 2001 editor-in-chief of the Carinthian regional studio at ORF .

Life

Pirker studied in Graz and Vienna . He completed his studies with the graduation to the Dr. phil. from. Since 1968 he worked in editorial and later in managerial positions for ORF and various other media companies. Between 1978 and 1982 he was Germany correspondent for the daily newspaper Kurier , from 1983 to 1985 editor-in-chief at the television station Sat.1 and from 1985 to 1987 at the Kronen Zeitung .

Since May 21, 2014, one day before his 70th birthday, Pirker has been missing. His body was found eight days later in the Danube near Leopoldstadt . According to the autopsy result, there was no third-party fault for Pirker's death. Accordingly, he committed suicide , the trigger is said to have been a private overindebtedness .

Since 1964 he was a member of the Catholic student association KÖHV Carolina Graz in the ÖCV .
