Peter Pospíšil

Peter Pospíšil (born April 24, 1944 in Bratislava ; † April 17, 2006 there ) was a Slovak handball player and photographer .

Athletic career

The 1.80 m tall and at his active time 80 kg heavy Pospíšil was a handball goalkeeper . From 1960 to 1964 he played for Slovan Bratislava . He then played for ČH Bratislava until the end of his career in 1975 , with whom he became Czechoslovakian champion in 1973. For the Czechoslovak national team , he played 28 international games , including five at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, where he won the silver medal.

Professional career

Pospíšil became a photographer after the end of his sporting career. From 1973 to 1992 he worked for the sports magazine Start. He then founded his own agency Štartfoto . In 1977, he won the World Press Photo Foundation's Press Photo of the Year award for his photographs at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. He took part in 15 Summer and Winter Olympics as an active person and as a photographer.
