Peter Wallé

Peter Hubert Wallé (born December 3, 1845 in Cologne , † September 8, 1904 in Berlin ) was a German architect , art historian and publicist .

Life

Peter Wallé's father, Johann Anton Wallé (1807–1876), was an architect and teacher in Cologne. Wallé did his training with the architect Julius Raschdorff in Cologne. From 1866 to 1870 he studied at the Berlin Bauakademie and graduated with the construction manager examination. He then worked practically until 1879, traveled through Germany, Belgium and Austria and from 1877 also worked as a journalist. From 1879 to 1881 he worked as editor of the weekly newspaper for architects and engineers and was also editor of the magazine Der Tiefbau . In 1884 he took part in the XIII. Assembly of Representatives of the Association of German Architects and Engineers ' Associations. From 1884 to 1888 he was editor of the magazine Der Bär . In 1891 he became a member of the Provincial Commission for Monument Preservation for Brandenburg. In 1899 he was given the title of professor. In 1900 he traveled to St. Petersburg for his research on Andreas Schlueter . He conducted further intensive research on Rochus von Lynar , Carl von Gontard and Eduard Knoblauch . In Berlin he had campaigned for years against the planned demolition of the Heiliggeistkapelle and the opera house .
