Peter Weins

Peter Weins (born May 4, 1889 in Kyllburg , † October 8, 1966 in Trier ) was a German clergyman and vicar general of the Trier diocese .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1910 at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Trier , he studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Episcopal Seminary in Trier . He received on August 1, 1914 High Cathedral Trier the priesthood and was a chaplain in Trier- St. Paulin . In 1921 he received his doctorate in theology in Freiburg with the dissertation The Reichsgottesidee in the systematic theology of the 18th century . After that he was a religion teacher for four years at the teachers' college in Wittlich. In 1925 he became a pastor in Neunkirchen (Birkenfeld), in 1931 he moved to the St. Mary's Church in Neunkirchen and from 1937 was also dean of Ottweiler . In 1938 he moved back to St. Paulin, where he was pastor and dean for 13 years.

In 1950 he was appointed non-resident canon in Trier. Bishop Matthias Wehr appointed him Vicar General of the Diocese of Trier in 1951 and thus succeeded Heinrich von Meurers . In 1952 he was appointed cathedral capital . Due to his health, he resigned from the office of vicar general in 1964. His successor was Josef Paulus (1908–1985).
