Peter and Paul (occasionally also Peter & Paul ) was a German duo that played pop music in the GDR . Later it became the trio Peter, Paul & Aniko .

Band history

Peter and Paul was founded in 1978 by Peter Paulick and Thomas Friedrich. Both musicians sang and played guitar. Paulick was previously a member of Gerd Michaelis choir , and had then with Henry Kotowski as Peter & Cott'n Country made -oriented music, Friedrich came from Peter Holten sextet . The duo was commercially successful with a mixture of pop music, hits and chansons and also gave concerts abroad. Most of the texts were written by Ingeburg Branoner . In 1981 the album Peter and Paul was released . Paulick got to know the Hungarian singer Anikó Serfőző. She had previously been a member of the band Illés and in 1980 at the Dresden International Schlager Festival with Why don't you always stay a child? won first prize in the national category. In 1982 and 1983 she published the singles In my Home and Two Roses in the Snow in the GDR as Aniko , and with Tausendschön she took first place in the annual hit studio record. The compositions came from Paulick. Serfőző and Paulik got married. Anikó Serfőző became a member of the band in 1983, which was now called Peter, Paul and Aniko . In 1985 they released their album Encounters . Shortly afterwards, Anikó Serfőző moved back to Hungary, and Paulick and Friedrich also separated.

Paulick also composed for other GDR musicians such as Monika Hauff and Klaus-Dieter Henkler , Uwe Jensen , Aurora Lacasa and Veronika Fischer . He performed with Paul Simon and Donovan , among others . Paulick continues to compose and appears as flamenco guitarist Anjan De Contes.
