Private life

From June 14 to 16, 1968 Strobl was on the way to the semi-finals in Munich with the Davis Cup team of Czechoslovakia . On the way to Munich, he and his team ( Jan Kodeš and Milan Holeček ) made a stopover in Amberg at the invitation of Fritz Blum to do a few exhibition matches.

After the invasion of Warsaw Pact troops in August 1968, Strobl took the train from Czechoslovakia to Germany. Through the contacts that had been made in June 1968, he settled in Amberg.

Career as a player

Strobl was nominated a total of six times for the Davis Cup , of which he was used four times in 1962 and 1963. He won two of five singles, and won three of four doubles.

There he trained, among other things, the first men's team in their most successful time, in which the German championship was won five times (1978 to 1982). New Zealander Chris Lewis , who made it to the Wimbledon final in 1983, regularly prepared for ATP tournaments with Strobl. Strobl recently trained the 1st women's team of the TC Amberg am Schanzl. He led this up to the Bundesliga.
