Petra Bläss (also: Petra Bläss-Rafajlovski ) (born June 12, 1964 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( PDS ). From 1998 to 2002 she was Vice President of the German Bundestag .

After graduating from high school in 1982, Petra Bläss completed a teaching degree at the Humboldt University in Berlin , which she completed in 1987 as a graduate teacher for history and German. This was followed by research studies in the field of literary studies in the German Studies section at the HU Berlin until 1990 . From June to December 1990 she then worked as an editor for the German television broadcasting company (DFF). She was the chairman of the electoral commission in the first free Volkskammer election on March 18, 1990. Petra Bläss has been a freelance political advisor since 2003. a. for the Balkans Stability Pact.

From 1986 Petra Bläss was a member of the SED . She left the party in January 1990 and was a co-founder of the Independent Women's Association of the GDR. In 1997 she joined the PDS. She ended this membership in 2005 for professional reasons.

From 1990 to 2002 she was a member of the German Bundestag for the PDS . Here she was from October 26, 1998 to October 17, 2002 Vice President of the German Bundestag . She represented her group in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag. From 1998 to 2002 she was also the women's political spokeswoman for the PDS parliamentary group . Bläss entered the German Bundestag in 1998 for the 14th electoral term via the Saxony-Anhalt state list. She is a member of the Atlantik-Brücke and the Southeast Europe Society .
