Petrus Scheele (born June 7, 1623 in Preetz , † December 4, 1700 in Hamburg ) was a North German clergyman.

Life

Petrus Schele studied at the University of Rostock . He is also proven as a respondent in Königsberg / East Prussia and Wittenberg. Scheele was archdeacon at the Marienkirche in Rendsburg , from 1676 to 1681 pastor in Giekau and from 1681 until his death pastor at the church of St. Maria Magdalena in Hamburg-Moorburg and at the same time preached in the penitentiary . Scheele bequeathed a library of 2,500 volumes to the Preetz pastors and the interest on a capital of 2,000 Reichstalers to maintain and expand them.

In the Preetz Monastery , the remter of the cloister was rebuilt to accommodate these books. This library formed the basis of the preacher's library , which is one of the greatest cultural treasures of the city of Preetz.
