Petter Carlsen

Petter Carlsen (born December 19, 1979 in Alta ) is a Norwegian rock singer and composer .

Career

Carlsen began playing the guitar at the age of 15 . A big influence was the song Fade to Black by Metallica . He played in various rock bands in the following years before starting his solo career in the mid-2000s. In 2006 the EP A Taste of What's to Come was released , which earned him a contract with the record label EMI . The debut album, You Go Bird , was released three years later and reached number 14 on the Norwegian album charts. Two years later the album Clocks Don't Count followed , which was released in the rest of Europe via the British indie label Function Records. The third studio album Sirens was released in 2014 , followed by the album Glimt three years later. Carlsen describes his style as a solo artist as alternative pop music.

In 2013 Carlsen founded the band Pil & Bue ( Norwegian : bow and arrow ) together with drummer Aleksander Kostopoulos, who released their own debut album Push Start Button a year later . Two years later, the second album Forget the Past, Let's Worry About the Future, followed . The music of Pil & Bue is described as a mixture of psychedelic rock , grunge and alternative rock .

After going on a European tour in 2010 as a solo artist in support of Anathema , Carlsen appeared two years later as a guest singer on Anathema's album Weather Systems . In 2013 Petter Carlsen appeared together with anathema singer Vincent Cavanagh as a guest singer on the song Welcome Change by the German post-rock band Long Distance Calling . After the long-distance calling singer Martin Fischer decided to leave the band after the recordings for their fifth album Trips , Carlsen signed them as his successor. Carlsen is not a permanent member of the band.

Petter Carlsen is also active as a composer. So he steered z. B. together with Kjell Rune Myrland the music for the film Kill Buljo .
