history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1160. The new Gothic building was erected around 1450. The Gothic chancel was demolished for the first time around 1600 and the church was expanded. The existing baroque middle section of the church was completed in 1740 and 1770. The steeple was raised to its current height of 62 meters in 1835. The pulpit and the galleries of this construction phase are no longer preserved. The reinforced concrete structure in the altar area was completed in 1968.

architecture

The nave was developed from a hexagon, see the Bürgerspitalkirche in Braunau, the parish church Eggelsberg , the parish church Laakirchen , and is three-bay , with a three-aisled west bay, with two eastern double-aisled bays, with a roughened central column and a ribbed vault. The front arch is mighty. The two-bay, barrel-vaulted choir closes with a three-eighth closure from the 17th century. The side choir extensions have galleries above . The west tower carries an onion with a lantern . The Gothic north portal is pointed arch, the west portal keel-arched.

Furnishing

The high altar from the end of the 17th century has two top statues, Joseph and Paul. Next to the right side altar is a relief of the Entombment from the end of the 16th century.

In the nave is a votive picture feeding the ten thousand with donors around 1625.

The late Gothic baptismal font has a baroque lid with a group of figures Baptism of Christ.

In the northern choir annex there is an epitaph Böhm von Fridesheim 1579 with relief.
