The Roman Catholic parish church of Gallizien in the parish of the same name is dedicated to James the Elder . A church in Gallizien / Galicija was first mentioned between 1086 and 1121. The church was badly damaged in the Turkish Wars.

Building description

The church is a medium-sized structure with a Gothic choir. The Romanesque tower on the south side of the nave is crowned by a pyramid helmet. The nave was converted into a spacious hall in 1945/1946. A ribbed vault from the 14th century rises above the choir with a five-eighth closure . The sacristy is built on the north side of the choir .

To the east of the cemetery is a semicircular chapel niche with a crucifix with expressive wall paintings of Saints George and Michael . The old chamber of the dead stands northwest of the church.

Facility

The high altar was built in the third quarter of the 18th century. The central statue shows St. Jakobus, the two flanking angels are reminiscent of Ignatz Günther's angels in terms of dynamics and gestures . In the top picture is St. To see Anna with Maria as a child. The left side altar from the third quarter of the 17th century originally stood in the parish church of Zweinitz and consists of an aedicule with side console figures on a small base and a broken segmented gable with a small aedicule as an attachment. The twisted columns are adorned with vine leaves. On the altar is a beautiful Madonna from 1425/1430 as well as the figures of Saints Catherine and Joseph . The top picture shows the baptism of Jesus . The right side altar was built around 1720/1730. In the shrine there is a figure of St. Florian. The figures of the four evangelists from the 18th century on the gallery parapet come from the former pulpit . A high-quality crucifix from the 17th century hangs on the north wall.
