The Roman Catholic parish church Grafenschachen is located in the municipality of Grafenschachen in the Oberwart district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to the Holy Trinity and belongs to the Pinkafeld deanery in the Eisenstadt diocese . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

Location description

The church stands on the western slope above the village. The previous church from 1805 was in the center of the village.

history

In 1790 the church was elevated to a parish church. A previous building was built in 1805. The present church was built in 1880 by master builder Johann Lang from Pinkafeld . The church underwent restoration inside in 1975 and outside in 1977.

The church is a single-nave hall church. The retracted choir has beveled corners. The west tower has a pyramid spire .

Church interior

The nave of the church has four bays. Above it is a high square vault between wide belt arches that rest on double pilasters . The arched gallery is triaxial. The triumphal arch is depressed. The choir is closed around. In the choir yoke there is a shell vault with stitch caps .

Furnishing

The neo-Romanesque high altar was built in 1905 by Johann Heckenast from Szombathely . The late baroque pulpit was created in the second half of the 18th century and comes from the chapel of Pernegg Castle in Styria .
