history

A chapel mentioned in a document in the 14th century gave the place its current name Kappl. After a renovation, the choir was consecrated in 1482. Except for the tower, the church was rebuilt in 1726/1727 and consecrated in 1734. 1958/1960 was a restoration.

architecture

The baroque hall church with a late Gothic tower is surrounded by a cemetery.

The simple church has a nave and a retracted, round closing choir, the facade shows high arched windows with plaster tape framing and plaster corner squares. The late Gothic tower on the north side of the choir has two-lane tracery windows in the bell storey and has a pointed gable helmet. The sacristy adjoins the tower to the east. The arched west portal under a canopy is flanked by pilasters and beams.

Wall paintings on the facade show baroque station pictures from the second half of the 18th century, on the tower a baroque Christophorus and a painted clock face from 1800. On the western front a round medallion shows Antonius Abbas. Outside the choir is the carving of the crucifix and Maria by Johann Ladner 1754.

The interior of the church shows a star ridge vault on the tower ground floor. The four-bay nave has a lancet barrel vault, the single-bay choir has a groin vault. The vaults are with graceful Rococo - stucco decorated. The ceiling paintings in the nave depicting St. Franz Xaver , the spreading of the rosary and angels making music, created Philipp Jakob Greil in 1774 . The fresco on the choir arch with the Annunciation to Mary is by Heinrich Kluibenschedl from 1907.

Furnishing

The uniform baroque altar furnishings were created in 1726/1727. The carved figures were created by the sculptor Andreas Kölle .

The organ with Rückpositiv was created by Johann Anton Fuchs in 1797 and restored by Reinisch-Pirchner in 1966. Bartholomäus Graßmayr calls a bell in 1780.
