Neckenmarkt parish church
The Roman Catholic parish church Neckenmarkt is in the village of Neckenmarkt in the market town of Neckenmarkt in Burgenland . The parish church of the Holy Spirit belongs to the Deutschkreutz deanery in the Eisenstadt diocese . The church is a listed building .
history
The medieval Gothic church was a fortified church with a moat at the southern end of the Angers. The moat is no longer recognizable. The church was redesigned in baroque style in 1642 .
architecture
The four-storey west tower, essentially medieval, has a gallery on top of corbels , and above it is an eight-sided stone pyramid helmet . The west portal with an explosive gable shows a relief IHS in a halo and an angel's head. There are buttresses on the nave , the retracted choir has an apse with a 3/8 end. The north portal with rosettes and angels' heads in the frame and the designation 1646 is walled up, in the middle is a pillar with the Esterházy coat of arms . Remains of a late Gothic portal vestment were uncovered on the southern front. On the south side in front of the eastern nave and the choir there is an extension, the so-called Haschendorfer Chapel . At the height of the chapel aisle there is a wreath of dovetail battlements, behind which lies an invisible moat roof . Above the chapel and sacristy is a fortified floor with keyhole notches.
The three-bay nave has a barrel vault with wide stitch caps, in the apex of which are stucco rosettes. The west gallery over six groin vaults and four Tuscan columns is deep, on the parapet is a row of balusters in relief. In the choir and apse there is a Gothic star vault with baroque stucco ribs. The side chapel in the south extension has a groin vault.
Furnishing
The neo-Gothic high altar is a work by Ferdinand Stufesser from Ortisei in Val Gardena from 1913. The right side altar on a triumphal arch has an inscription cartouche with a chronogram 1751 and bears large angels on the side of the tabernacle. A structure with acanthus, ribbons and canopy shows the miraculous image of Mariahilf and in the oval top image God the Father and in the frame the figures of St. Sebastian and Rochus .
The pulpit from the 17th century has evangelists on the basket between the columns , the sound cover carries the Immaculate on volutes . The baptismal font made of red marble as a humped bowl with scrollwork cartouche from the 17th century bears the figure of Johannes Baptist from the 18th century on the lid .
Rectory
The portal of a former Georgskirche with the year 1631, which was transferred here in 1926, leads to the rectory north of the church.
