The church was built in the neo-Gothic style and consists of the actual nave, a bell tower, a presbytery and two other low rooms attached to the presbytery, of which the northern one serves as a sacristy . The nave consists of five bays and is vaulted by a ribbed vault with belt arches . In the rear yoke is the organ loft with a neo-Gothic parapet . The interior of the nave is illuminated by ten colored glass windows. In front of the church there is also a cross built in 1888 with a statue of the Virgin Mary made of sandstone.

In the middle of the high altar is a statue of the apostle Bartholomäus , the church patron, which is surrounded by statues of the apostles Peter and Paul . On the Marienaltar, one of the two side altars, there are statues of Maria Immaculata as well as Saint Barbara and Saint Aloisius . On the Joseph altar, the second side altar, there are statues of Joseph of Nazareth with the baby Jesus as well as St. Anna and St. Joachim .

The bell tower with four steel bells is located on the east side of the nave. The outer wall of the church is reinforced by supporting pillars made of natural stone.

history

The planning for the construction of the new parish church began in 1834 because part of the wall in the old parish church gave way and the entire building was considered dilapidated. The groundbreaking took place on June 30, 1863 and the actual construction began in the spring of 1864. The church and the steeple were roofed over in late summer 1865. The high altar and pulpit were erected in autumn 1867. At the same time, the tower clock and five bells were placed in the church tower. The consecration took place on November 17, 1867. On the 1st Sunday of Advent of the same year, the Holy of Holies was moved from the old parish church to the newly consecrated parish church.

In 1868 two side altars, the Marien Altar and the Joseph Altar, were erected. The organ, consecrated in 1870, was donated to the church by a parishioner. The organ's tin pipes had to be delivered in 1916 and were not replaced until 1937. In addition, an electric organ fan was installed. The baptismal font was donated to the church in 1884. Around 1913 the inside of the church was painted dark and the neo-Gothic dormers were removed. During the Second World War, the bells were smashed and melted down. After the war, four steel bells were installed in the church tower. In 1990 the outside of the parish church was renovated. The inside was renovated in 2009. Among other things, the original color scheme of the walls was restored.
