History and architecture

A church was documented in 1120. The church was built in the 15th century as the castle chapel of the Lords of Pürching on Sigharting. In 1609 they built a tomb in it, which was filled in in 1920. This chapel had the dimensions of 11.5 x 6.5 meters, and carried a roof turret with two bells. 1701 was given a brick north tower there.

In 1680 the Gothic three-bay chapel was extended by one bay to the west. In 1785 the castle chapel was elevated to a parish church. However, of the 600 inhabitants at the time, there was only room for 200 in the building. In 1807 a three-bay choir with a three-twelfth end was added to the east. In 1869 a north aisle (Marienkapelle) was added to the church and a two-storey gallery was added. In 1893 the tower in the northern choir corner was renewed with an onion helmet under cathedral builder Matthäus Schlager . The interior of the church shows itself with belt vaults with stitch caps.

Furnishing

The altars have neo-Romanesque shapes. The high altar from 1886 carries the statue of St. Pancras with the side figures of Saints Agnes and Cäcilia . The baroque pulpit was created in 1788 or 1807 by the Sighartinger carpenter Matthias Rosenstingl. The Marien Altar of the Marienkapelle was erected in its present form in 1961. and carries a statue of Immaculate , a tabernacle and two flanking angels.

The organ originally dates from 1789. It has been restored several times over the years. It has a total of 402 pipes.

On the south side of the nave are the remarkable marble epitaphs of two Sighartinger lords of the castle. The eastern one is reminiscent of Johann Carl von Pürching († January 4, 1626), who had the crypt built, and is approx. 2 × 1 meters in size. It consists of white Kelheim marble . The western one, also about 2 × 1 meters in size, consists of red and white marble and is reminiscent of the last Pürchinger on Sigharting, Johann Ulrich († January 13, 1632).
