Pferdsdorf-Spichra was a municipality in the Eisenach district in Thuringia and is now a district of the Krauthausen municipality in the Wartburg district in Thuringia , which consists of the Spichra and Pferdsdorf locations .

location

Pferdsdorf-Spichra is located on the Hessian-Thuringian border, about 10 kilometers northwest of Eisenach in the Werra valley . Neighboring cities and communities are Creuzburg in the north, Krauthausen in the east, today's Eisenach districts of Stedtfeld , Hörschel and Wartha in the south and the Hessian community Herleshausen with its district Willershausen in the west. The towns of Pferdsdorf and Spichra are separated by the Werra, with both town centers about 500 m apart due to the flood-prone terrain. A bicycle and footpath runs over the transition at the Spichra hydropower plant , and the road connection between the two districts is provided by the road bridge about one kilometer to the south on state road 1017 (former federal road 7a ).

history

Horse village and Spichra belonged to the office of Creuzburg since the High Middle Ages , where the St. Jakob monastery was located until the Reformation , once the largest landowner and liege lord of both places.

The traditional connection between the two districts remained in place until the GDR era; in Creuzburg there were a school, rural outpatient clinic, pharmacy and other supply facilities for both places. A desired incorporation of both places after Creuzburg was rejected because of the border location. Pferdsdorf-Spichra was created on January 1, 1957 by merging the communities of Pferdsdorf and Spichra. On April 9, 1994, Pferdsdorf-Spichra was incorporated into Krauthausen .
