The Phelps Promontory is an icy peninsula on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands, surrounded by numerous rocky outcrops . South of Williams Point , it rises moderately to a height of 180 m .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1998 after Edmond Malcolm Stuart Phelps (1928-2017), captain of the RRS John Biscoe from 1972 to 1991, who between 1974 and 1975 supported the work of geologists from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in this area logistically would have.
