Phenomena (music project)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Phenomena is a multimedia rock music project by music producers Tom Galley and Wilfried F. Rimensberger. It was originally started as a heavy metal project with musicians around the former rock band Trapeze and signed by Gerry Brons Bronze Records . With Rimensberger as co-producer (music) and project manager, the multi-media rock concept was developed with a changing star line-up and a worldwide record deal was signed with BMG International boss Heinz Henn . A trailer for the film as a video for the No. 1 hit "Did it all for Love" was also shot. Between 1985 and 2006 4 albums and a boxed set have been released so far. Two more albums were released in 2010 and 2012.

biography

The heavy metal project Phenomena, founded in 1983 by Mel and Tom Galley, was linked by Bronze Records during the production work for the first recordings with Wilfried Rimensberger, who was just setting up the metal hammer magazine in London. Rimensberger developed the music project into a viable global multimedia project and involved well-known musicians such as Brian May ( Queen ), John Wetton , Ray Gillen , Glenn Hughes and Scott Gorham ( Thin Lizzy ). He secured a worldwide record deal with BMG -RCA and a publishing deal for the project .

After the success of Phenomena II: Dream Runner , Rimensberger developed Tom Galley's film idea for an international movie project with Raymond Homer as executive producer , Antony Furst ( Batman ) as set designer and actors such as Sean Connery and Emily Lloyd in leading roles. At the same time, Rimensberger became a consultant for MTV Europe , which was just trying to introduce music television in Europe from London and encountered difficulties in getting access to the corresponding cable networks.

At the same time, Tom Galley spent time at Puck Studios recording Phenomena III . This led to differences of opinion between him and Rimensberger, who criticized the lyrics of the new songs as weak and, in line with the record company, called for a harder sound. As a result, RCA International boss Heinz Henn refused to accept the recordings and ultimately the release of the record.

The film project also ran into trouble. A few weeks before shooting began, Raymond Homer's financing package collapsed and with it the production of the Phenomena film. Without informing Rimensberger, Tom Galley sold the publishing rights to Phenomena III and tried for years alone to find a distribution contract for the now recorded Phenomena IV material. The album was released in 2006 under Tom Galley's "Phenomena" Psychfantasy at the same time as a boxed set of the first three albums. Tom Galley and Rimensberger, who had retained his rights to Phenomena, agreed in London in 2008 to continue Phenomena as a joint project, with Rimensberger taking overall management as the overall project producer. Phenomena V demos have already been recorded and the album Blind Faith was released in September 2010 under the name Tom Galley the Creator of Phenomena , which was originally supposed to come out as Tom Galley's Psychofantasy II . The album was very well received by the critics with an average rating of 8/10, but was criticized several times because of the Phenomena typical, but missing concept story. In the following years it was planned to produce the first real concept album, which should be based on the classic DreamRunner, but with a different story. Some of the former superstars, but also new international artists, were signed up for the new recordings. A release date has not been announced. A movie, a Phenomena musical and a video game were also planned.

The project homepage was no longer available in March 2016, the status of the project is unclear.
