Phil Palmer
Philip "Phil" John Palmer (born September 9, 1952 in London , England ) is a British musician .
Palmer worked as a session guitarist with artists such as the Pet Shop Boys , Wishbone Ash (1986 Tour), Joan Armatrading , Eric Clapton , the Dire Straits , Tina Turner , Chris de Burgh , Bryan Adams , Alphaville , George Michael and Melanie Chisholm . He often worked with producer Trevor Horn . He himself produced Justin Haywards album The View from the Hill in 1996 , on which he also works as a guitarist .
In 1993 he formed the band Spin 1ne 2wo with Paul Carrack (from Mike & the Mechanics , vocals and keyboards), Steve Ferrone (drums), Rupert Hine (producer and keyboards) and Tony Levin (bass) . The five musicians brought out an album with covers of rock classics by Jimi Hendrix , The Who , Led Zeppelin , Blind Faith , Steely Dan and Bob Dylan . According to Palmer, he worked on around 500 albums and 5000 songs over the course of his career. In 2015 he was part of John Illsley's live band on his European tour.
