Philip B. Coulter

Philip Brooks Coulter (born February 27, 1939 in Elizabethtown , Kentucky ; abbreviated: Philip B. Coulter ) is an American political scientist and was Professor of Political Science, most recently at the University of New Orleans (UNO).

education

In 1961, Coulter made his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and English from Center College . From 1961 to 1962 he completed 24 graduate hours (graduate hours) in the Department of Political Science at the University of Kentucky . He received his doctorate ( Ph.D. ) in 1966 in political science at the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy of the State University of New York at Albany .

Career

Academic

Coulter was a teacher (instructor) for government (especially: state government [government of the individual states] and metropolitan politics ) at the Department of Political Science of the University of Massachusetts Amherst / UMass Amherst (1964–1966). He was an Assistant Professor (1966–1970) and Associate Professor (1970–1975) at UMass Amherst. At the Department of Political Science of the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University in West Lafayette (Indiana) , Coulter was Professor of Political Science (1976–1978). He was Professor of Political Science at the University of Alabama (UA) in Tuscaloosa (1978–1990). He held the chair in the Department of Political Science of the UA College of Arts and Sciences (1978–1985). Coulter is a founder and director of the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) of the UA's College of Arts and Sciences (1985–1990). He was Professor of Political Science at the UN (1990–2006). For a decade he was the dean of the UN College of Liberal Arts (COLA) (1990-2000) and he was the rector of the UN's Associate for International Programs (2000-2002). Coulter was the dean of the College of Urban and Public Affairs (CUPA; today: Center for Urban and Public Affairs [CUPA], College of Planning and Urban Studies ) of the UN (2004–2006).

Otherwise

From January to August 1971 Coulter was visiting professor at the Department of Public Administration of the Institute for Social Science (ISS) of the Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands . He was senior political scientist at the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) from 1975 to 1976. In the summer of 2003, Coulter was a professor at the University of New Orleans in connection with the Glories of France Program in Montpellier , France .
