Philip Brennan

Philip "Phil" Brennan (* 1967 or 1968) is a Scottish special effects artist who was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects in 2013 for Snow White and the Huntsman .

Life

He grew up in Barnton, a district of Edinburgh , and went to Stewart's Melville College , a private school in Edinburgh. He then studied microprocessor technology at Strathclyde University . From 1989 to 1994 he was employed by Quantel as a research and development engineer. He then moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a VFX supervisor and inferno artist at Sight Effects until 1999 . There he worked on films such as Species and Volcano .

In 1999 he switched to Asylum Visual Effects where he was employed as VFX Supervisor and Creative Director . There has been involved in films such as Planet of the Apes , Minority Report , The Legacy of the Knights Templar and The Strange Fall of Benjamin Button . Since the studio closed in 2010, he has been working as a freelancer. In 2012 he worked on Snow White and the Huntsman , for which he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects in 2013 together with Cedric Nicolas-Troyan , Neil Corbould and Michael Dawson . He lives in Los Angeles with his wife.
