Philip Griesser

Philip Griesser (born June 24, 1979 in Düsseldorf ) is a German economist and has been Rector of the EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality since November 2019 .

Life

After graduating from the Schiller-Gymnasium in Hameln in 1999 , he first studied hotel and tourism management at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Ravensburg from 2000 to 2003 , followed by a master’s degree in International Tourism Management at the University of Seville .

From 2005 to 2009 Griesser spent several years in Vienna , during which time he worked as a senior key account manager for international hotel groups, the Hilton Hotels and the Rezidor Hotel Group . In the years 2009-2010 Griesser worked as a management consultant for tourist destinations in Santiago de Chile and also had a teaching position for marketing at the Universidad Pedro de Valdivia in Santiago de Chile.

His dissertation in 2013 at the University of Trier dealt with approaches to a resource management model for national parks in Chile based on the principles of responsible tourism.

In 2013 Griesser was appointed professor for hotel and tourism management at the IST University for Management in Düsseldorf and was responsible for the management of this course until 2015. From 2015 to 2019 Griesser was a professor at the SRH Fernhochschule and headed the courses in hotel and tourism management and digital sales and marketing.

On November 1, 2019, Griesser was appointed rector of the EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality .

Philip Griesser is a son of the Slovenian historian Tamara Griesser and the Austrian journalist Hermann A. Griesser

Main focus of work and research

Philip Griesser's work and research focuses on the analysis and network management of health tourism service providers and of solution and problem-oriented (digital) marketing approaches. In addition, Griesser is working on the further development of the blended learning model. His special interest lies in the formation of strategic partnerships between industry and research and teaching.
