Philipp Rumsch

Philipp Rumsch (* 1994 in Glauchau ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( piano , composition , arrangement ).

Philipp Rumsch has been attending the jazz piano class at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig with Richie Beirach , Michael Wollny and Ralf Schrabbe since 2013 . There he also received further training in the subjects of music theory , composition , counterpoint , composition, instrumentation and conducting. In 2016 and 2017 he attended the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen; the focus was on studies in sound design and electroacoustic music . He had lessons a. with Valgeir Sigurðsson , Niels-Lyhne Løkkegard , August Rosenbaum and Simon Toldam . From 2013 to 2015 he was a member of the Saxony Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Rumsch works as a pianist and composer / arranger in various musical projects such as Moment's Concept ; he also wrote music for the theater. In 2017 he released his debut album A Forward-Facing Review (Denovali). His music is inspired by pop music as well as electro-acoustic, contemporary and improvised music.

Prizes and awards

Rumsch has been awarded several prizes for young talent. In 2018 he received the Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Award from the Marion Ermer Foundation.
