Philipp Siegmund von Hagen

Philipp Siegmund von Hagen (* 1648 ; † March 8, 1717 in Geldern ) was a Prussian officer , most recently lieutenant general and governor of Geldern.

Life

His father was the district administrator of the Neumark district of Soldin , Tido Christoph von Hagen († 1660) on Naulin. His brother Hans Joachim von Hagen also became a Prussian general.

Hagen probably entered the service of Brandenburg at a young age. In 1689 he became a major in the "von Schöning" No. 1 infantry regiment . In 1692 he became lieutenant colonel and came to the Rhine and Maas with the first battalion of the Prussian guard. In October 1695 he became a colonel in the infantry regiment “von Wylich and Lottum” No. 15 . In 1702 he came to Italy with the Prussian contingent in the War of the Spanish Succession . There he took part in the battle of Cassano and Turin . On January 21, 1705 he was promoted to major general, but asked for his replacement. On January 11, 1708, the Secret War Council decided to bring him back. In 1709 he got the job of commandant in Driesen . In 1713 he got the post of governor in Geldern . There he was promoted to lieutenant general on May 13, 1715 . He died unmarried in March 1717 in Geldern.
