Philipp von Luck (born May 21, 1739 in Wilmersdorf near Lebus , † October 1, 1803 in Berlin ) was a Prussian colonel and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

origin

Philipp Friedrich von Luck and Witten came from the widespread Silesian noble family von Luck (Lucke), namely the main line of New Marks (Muschten). Within this main tribe he belonged to sub-tribe A, founded by Hans von Luck and Witten on Witten and Muschten (around 1541), which was also called von Luck and Witten after the Witten family estate. Within this sub-tribe he belonged to the Woidnig line (founded by Wilhelm von Luck and Witten, who died after 1661). He was born on May 21, 1739 in Wilmersdorf near Lebus . His parents were the Prussian major Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm von Luck and Witten (1695–1745) and his wife Christiane, née von Rohr (1715–1774).

family

He married on December 8, 1769 in Golzow Johanne Friederike Ernestine von Langenau (* January 11, 1744 - January 7, 1783), the widow of Carl Friedrich Wilhelm von Rochow (* January 2, 1740; † March 11, 1764) and Daughter-in-law of Lieutenant General Friedrich Wilhelm von Rochow . After the death of his wife, he married Elisabeth Sophie Auguste von Bomin on September 14, 1783 in Neetzow (* February 13, 1759; † May 6, 1831). The couple had several children:

  • Friedrich Wilhelm Magnus (September 12, 1784 - March 11, 1785)
  • August Friedrich Wilhelm Helmuth Magnus Otto Ludwig (born September 13, 1786 - † February 15, 1791)
  • Friedrich Leopold August (June 8, 1788 - August 10, 1846), lieutenant
  • August Karl Ernst Albrecht (* January 7, 1790; † April 25, 1869) ⚭ 1817 Laura von Winterfeld (* May 8, 1799; † April 26, 1863)
  • Wilhelm Friedrich Fillip Otto Ludwig Ferdinand (* May 27, 1791 - March 6, 1865), major ret. D.
  • Fillip August Karl Heinrich Otto (March 12, 1796 - July 8, 1860), retired lieutenant. D. ⚭ 1832 Baron Luise von Wächter (born November 28, 1810 - † March 26, 1888)

Military career

Like his father and many members of his family, Philipp von Luck and Witten chose the soldier profession because he did not have any agricultural property from home. He joined the Prussian army and became a cavalryman with the hussars . In his military career, he made it to the rank of colonel in the regiment of the Eben Hussars. He had become economically independent through his second marriage. His second wife, Sophie von Bomin (1759–1831) brought the estates Neetzow and Gramkow at Anklam as a dowry and made it so economically good that he said goodbye before 1794. On February 19, 1794 , King Friedrich Wilhelm II awarded the out-of-service colonel, previously in the Eben-Hussars regiment, the Order pour le merite for his military service. In the Supreme Decree of February 19, 1794 from the royal headquarters in Frankfurt to Lieutenant General von Eben it says: .... My dear ... I am sending you the plm medal to give to Colonel von Luck in my name and deliver the sign of my mercy .... . After his departure he managed his estates in Western Pomerania until he died in Berlin on October 1, 1803.
