Karl Adolf August Freiherr von Eben and Brunnen (* March 1734 in Eisdorf near Namslau ; † June 20, 1800 in Wallwitz , Neusalz district in Silesia) was a Prussian general and head of the H 2 Hussar Regiment .

Life

His parents were the Imperial Royal Lieutenant Grenadier Hans Adolf von Eben and Brunnen (* July 8, 1708 - May 16, 1789) and his wife Eleonore Elisabeth von Naefe (* 1709; † April 1, 1740).

In 1768 he married the daughter of the hussar general Christian Möhring , Sophie Luise von Möhring (* December 1744) heiress of Wallwitz, Zäcklau and Fürstenau.

The pyramid tomb

From 1795 to 1800 he lived in retirement as the heir to Wallwitz, Fürstenau, Zäcklau and Ober-Rosen. Shortly after the death of his wife Sophie Luise von Möhring on May 4, 1800 in Wallwitz, Karl Adolf August von Eben und Brunnen also died. He was buried in 1800 in the pyramid tomb at Ober-Rosen , Silesia, completed in 1780 . The grave was built in 1780 by Carl Gotthard Langhans . Her son Adolf Christian Friedrich (1773-1832) was the royal Portuguese governor of Setuval in 1809, and in 1814 the royal English colonel .

Military career

In 1751 von Eben and Brunnen joined the Prussian army as an Estandartenjunker and initially served in the von Wartenberg Hussar Regiment (H 3) . On December 2, 1756, he was appointed cornet in the body cuirassier regiment (K 3) .

Karl Adolf August von Eben and Brunnen took part in the Seven Years' War from 1756 to 1763 and fought in the battles of Lobositz , Prague, Kolin , Kunersdorf , Roßbach and Freiberg .

On March 3, 1758, he switched to the newly established Belling Hussar Corps as a cornet (H 9 - from 1763 H 8). On March 6, 1758 he was appointed first lieutenant there , and on March 9, 1760 as staff assistant. After an intermediate stage as captain and squadron chief (appointed May 16, 1760), he was promoted to major on July 31, 1761 .

On August 6, 1778 he was appointed lieutenant colonel and took part in this rank from 1778 to 1779 in the War of the Bavarian Succession against Austria. From October 28, 1783, he was in command of the von der Schulenburg Hussar Regiment (H 8) and was promoted to colonel on May 20, 1785 . The appointment as chief of the body hussar regiment of Zieten (H 2) on March 1, 1786 was followed on July 2, 1786 by the appointment of major general by Frederick the Great .

In 1792 and 1793 he took part in a campaign against France and was promoted to lieutenant general on January 4, 1793 during the war.

On December 13, 1793, he was exempted from participating in further campaigns and retired on December 28, 1794 with a pension of 1200 thalers.
