Philippe Nabaa

Philippe Nabaa (born April 18, 1907 in Joun , Lebanon , † August 17, 1967 in Beirut ) was Melkite Archbishop of Beirut and Jbeil .

Life

He was ordained a priest on September 14, 1931 at the age of 24 . The appointment as archbishop took place on September 17, 1948, on October 3, 1948 Patriarch Maximos IV. Cardinal Sayegh donated the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were George Hakim , Bishop of Akka and later Patriarch of Alexandria, and Joseph Kallas , Bishop of Tripoli del Libano of the Melkites . He was the successor to Maximos IV. Cardinal Sayegh and took part in his capacity in the four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . From 1962 to 1967 he was undersecretary in the Pontifical Commission for the Interpretation of the Decrees of the Second Vatican Council.

Philippe Nabaa was co-consecrator to the Archbishops Augustin Farah (Bishop of Tripoli and later Archbishop of Zahlé and Furzol of the Melkite-Greek-Catholic Church) and his own successor, Grégoire Haddad .
