Samuel Tsui (born May 2, 1989 in Blue Bell , Pennsylvania ) is an American musician who publishes his works on YouTube . He gained fame by covering various titles by well-known artists, as well as playing medleys and mashups .

biography

Tsui has a Chinese father and an American mother. He grew up just one street away from Kurt Hugo Schneider , his current producer and musician colleague, with whom he also attended Wissahickon High School. Tsui graduated in 2011 in the course Ancient Greek Magna Cum Laude at the Yale University . On April 15, 2016, Tsui announced in his vlog that he has had a long-standing relationship with singer Casey Breves. Breves has already appeared in several videos on Tsui's channel, such as the successful " Thinking Out Loud / I'm Not The Only One MASHUP ". The two married on April 16, 2016.

Career

Tsui and Schneider began recording together in high school using a keyboard with primitive recording devices and the GarageBand program . Both later enrolled at Yale University , where a musical partnership developed. Together they produced a number of different covers and medleys, as well as several episodes of an online series called "College Musical" in 2009, which in 2014 became a full film. In December 2010 Schneider's YouTube channel " KurtHugoSchneider " was visited over 579 million times by users from all over the world, and 2.5 million members on YouTube had already subscribed to the channel. The most watched video (over 134 million views) is currently a cover of Just a Dream ( Nelly ), in which Tsui sings a duet with Christina Grimmie .

In June 2011 Schneider's YouTube channel had over a million subscribers, in 2015 it had already over five million and also over 1 billion views. His new album, which he produced together with Kurt Hugo Schneider , was released on May 11, 2013 . Since August 14, 2011, Tsui has had its own YouTube channel “ TheSamTsui ”, which in July 2016 already had 2.5 million subscribers and over 280 million video views. Most of the videos are still published on Schneider's channel.
