history

Dignified ambience of the Philippsruher Palace Concerts

The Philippsruher Palace Concerts were initiated in 1987 by the violinist Alois Kottmann and brought to life by the city of Hanau. The intention was to give the city of Paul Hindemith a musical and cultural impulse and a cultural flair. This should serve artistic content and goals as well as the Philippsruhe Palace with its parks with an ambience that is unique in Hesse. The result should be an unmistakable cultural event, which has an impact on the identity of the city of Hanau. The concert series sees itself as a social initiative that feels committed to integration and is open to people of all cultures without denying its substance in Christian culture. The founding ensemble was the Collegium Instrumentale Alois Kottmann , which continues to perform the concerts artistically to this day. Alois Kottmann and his deputy Boris Kottmann are responsible for the artistic direction .

The previous concerts have been given to a sold-out house for years. Currently there is a pre-Easter concert in April, a palace concert in the park in June and an Advent concert in November. As soloists, alongside Alois Kottmann (from left) and Boris Kottmann (from left), Olaf Van Gonnissen (g), Ingo Goritzki (fl, ob), Peter-Lukas Graf (fl), Ursula Holliger (harp), Yeon-Hee Kwak appear (ob) and Christiane Lüder (acc) as permanent soloists, as an ensemble the solo winds Rhine-Main, as reciters Rosemarie Fendel and Peter Härtling .

For several years now, open-air concerts have been taking place not only in the palace gardens, but also on the stage of the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale Festival in the amphitheater on the grounds of the palace gardens.

In some cases, private donors made it possible for the Philippsruher Palace Concerts to be made accessible to people on the lowest income levels.
