Olaf Van Gonnissen
Olaf Van Gonnissen (* 1954 in Tiengen ) is a German guitarist .
Life
At the age of four he first took violin lessons , but then switched to guitar at the age of eight . For his guitaristic achievements he received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . From 1970 to 1975 he studied guitar with Dr. Hoch's Conservatory and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main with Heinz Teuchert . While still a student, he founded the "Frankfurter Gitarrenduo" with Heinz Teuchert's son Michael Teuchert (* 1948) in 1971 , which made its concert debut in 1972, was very well known in the 1970s and recorded seven albums.
In 1992 he became a member of the “Mutare Ensemble Frankfurt” and in 2003 of the “World Guitar Ensemble”. He also gives concerts in various chamber music ensembles as well as on historical instruments ( lute , vihuela , baroque guitar).
In 1974 Olaf Van Gonissen took on a teaching position at the Academy of Music in Darmstadt , and from 1977 he also teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts . In 1999 he became a professor at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg . His pupils and students include a. Tillmann Reinbeck, Tilman Hoppstock , Anna Koch, Christian Schulz, Stephan Wolke, Steffen Brunner, Stefan Hladek and Malte Vief.
He has been involved in the Bad Homburg Guitar Days, which have been held annually since 2012, as solo guitarist and lecturer in master classes .
Today he lives with his family in Kronberg im Taunus .
