Phillipp Heyden (born September 26, 1988 in Marbach am Neckar ) is a German basketball player . He has been part of the squad of the second division USC Heidelberg since 2018 .
Player career
He began playing basketball at TV Marbach and later moved to the neighboring Ludwigsburg to the youth teams of BSG Ludwigsburg, the home club of Bundesliga club EnBW Ludwigsburg. In 2006 he went to Berlin and was active for TuS Lichterfelde in the 2nd basketball league and in the first NBBL season at all for the youth team of Alba Berlin. In the following season he continued to play in the ProB for the team from Lichterfelde and was a member of the senior squad of the first division club Alba with a double license , where he was only on the field for a good 20 seconds in one game. In 2008 Heyden, playing in the center position, returned to his home country for Bundesliga club EnBW Ludwigsburg, where he was used for almost 6 minutes per game and, thanks to a double license, also played in the ProA with cooperation partner Knights from Kirchheim unter Teck . When his playing times did not increase in the following season, he moved to the first division promoted from Bayreuth . After a mixed season, Heyden switched to ProA and signed a contract with Mitteldeutscher BC . With the MBC he won the ProA championship and celebrated his return to the BBL . After successfully staying up in 2012/2013, Heyden did not extend his contract with MBC and left the club. From the 2013/2014 season, Heyden played again for his former club BBC Bayreuth . On June 13, 2014 it was announced that his contract had been extended for two more years until the end of the 2015/2016 season.
After his contract in Bayreuth expired, Heyden moved to USC Heidelberg in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in summer 2016 . After a successful year in the ProA , Heyden returned to the first division in the summer of 2017 and signed a contract with the Walter Tigers Tübingen . After relegating to the ProA with Tübingen, Heyden rejoined USC Heidelberg and signed a contract with the second division team until 2020.
The former community service worker at the Olympic base in Stuttgart was a member of the U20 national team.
